Nigerian singer and skit maker, Nasiru has revealed why he deliberately stayed away from interviews and podcasts for about a year, citing frustration with misleading headlines and clickbait culture in the media.

The singer made the revelation in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), where he expressed disappointment over how some media platforms allegedly twist artists’ statements simply to generate online traction.

In his words: “I stopped doing interviews and podcasts for a year because of clickbait. They twist your words just for traction without caring about the damage it causes.

“I said Davido isn’t my guy, he’s my boss, but the headline became Davido isn’t my guy. I also said not everyone will like my music, not everyone likes music from Burna Boy, wizkid,Davido waking up to see not everyone likes Wizkid’s music. Una go see me again”.

However, Nasiru said the statement was distorted by bloggers and turned into a headline suggesting he had said “Davido isn’t my guy”, which he insists was taken completely out of context.

According to Nasiru, the statement was again twisted, with a headline suggesting he claimed people do not like Wizkid’s music.
