In a heartwarming celebration of cinematic excellence, the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) have honoured acclaimed Nollywood actress, producer, and director Toyin Abraham with the coveted Box Office Champion Award.
The recognition, presented on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the Board’s South West Zonal office, acknowledges Abraham’s extraordinary achievement with her directorial debut, Oversabi Aunty.

Released on December 19, 2025, the film surpassed the landmark ₦1 billion mark at the Nigerian box office, making Abraham the first debut director in Nollywood history to reach this milestone.

The award highlights her “outstanding box office performance” and solidifies her status as one of the industry’s elite record-breakers. The actress’s fans on social media are buzzing with excitement.
Abraham received the honour and delivered a touching speech, in which she expressed gratitude to fans, collaborators, and the NFVCB for recognising her hard work and innovation in Nollywood.
This accolade comes amid a wave of praise for female filmmakers pushing boundaries. Earlier in 2026, the NFVCB commended both Abraham and Funke Akindele for their historic box office feats, underscoring a golden era for Nigerian cinema.
