Nigerian Man Arrested for ‘Hiding in Ghana-Must-Go Bag at Married Woman’s Home’

Operatives of the Hisbah

Operatives of the Hisbah which operates under the Kebbi state ministry of religious affairs, have arrested a man who was allegedly found hiding inside a ‘Ghana-must-go’ bag.

Sirajo Kamba, the director of Sharia at the state Hisbah board, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the man was caught at another woman’s house in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.

Kamba stated that residents of the area alerted Hisbah around midnight on Monday after noticing the man secretly entering the woman’s home.

“The residents suspected an illicit affair contrary to Islamic teachings, hence their decision to formally notify the authority,” the statement reads in part.

“Upon receiving the report, the Kebbi Hisbah Board swiftly deployed officers to investigate.

“When officers arrived, they requested permission to search the house, but the woman initially denied that anyone was inside.”

The director, however, said the woman later allowed a thorough search, which led to the discovery of the suspect hidden inside a ‘Ghana-must-go’ bag.

He added that further investigation revealed an alleged romantic relationship between the man and the married woman.

Kamba said that after questioning, the two lovers admitted to the accusation.

He added that the suspects would be arraigned in court to face legal proceedings under Islamic law.
