
Nollywood actress Olamide Odunlade has extended gratitude to God after escaping a petrol tanker explosion along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
The incident occurred near the Deeper Life Bible Church, opposite the NASFAT camp, sending thick plumes of black smoke into the sky and triggering panic among motorists and nearby residents.
Caught in the terrifying ordeal, Olamide shared an emotional video on Instagram, documenting her frantic escape. Fighting back tears, she said, “God, thank you. What would I have said? Everybody run!”

Speaking about the incident, Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), said victims who sustained injuries were rushed to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Shagamu.
Akinbiyi, in a statement said, “A fallen laden tanker at NASFAT turning outbound Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has exploded, traffic seriously affected, fire services contact, motorists coming from Lagos diverted through Christ Embassy camp. TRACE, FRSC, and the police are on the ground monitoring the situation.”
Additionally, rescue teams from TRACE and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) swiftly responded to the scene. FRSC Sector spokesperson Florence Okpe confirmed the explosion happened on the outbound Lagos lane of the expressway.
