Nons Miraj: “From hairdresser to skitmaker, my success is my own doing”

Nigerian skitmaker, Chinonso Ukah, popularly known as Nons Miraj, has dismissed claims that a man played a role in her success.

In a recent interview on The Rolls-Royce Experience (TRRE), the 31-year-old media personality and YouTuber revealed the step-by-step journey of how she worked hard to make a name for herself.

Nons Miraj, who describes herself as a business-minded person, started her career by making people’s hair at her salon and acting in movies. She recalled that she was initially paid a meager N30,000 for her roles in films, which was not enough to take care of herself. She stated that even if she worked on three films in a month, she would only earn N90,000, which was not worth her time and effort.

However, Nons Miraj did not let her struggles discourage her. She diversified her income streams by selling perfumes and accessories at churches and salons, where she knew a lot of women frequented. Everything changed for her when she decided to leverage the power of social media. Filmmakers started to pay her better because she was no longer the one chasing them. Instead of earning N30,000, she started collecting N300,000 to N400,000.

Nons Miraj’s big break came when she quit acting and became a skitmaker. She introduced her popular character, Ada Jesus, to fans and secured endorsement deals worth millions of naira. She also collaborated with other popular skitmakers, such as Brainjotter and Zicsaloma, to expand her audience.

The idea for her love game show, Hunt Games, came to her from her skitmaking experience. The show became a huge success after she tested it, and she started earning thousands of dollars from YouTube. Nons Miraj emphasized that no man gave her this success, and she is proud of her accomplishments.
