Not all forms of mental illness are discernible – Charly boy knocks Melaye over his constant show of wealth

Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, a controversial Nigerian entertainer, has berated former Nigerian senator and politician Dino Melaye over his constant show of wealth online. 

This is coming after the controversial politician known as a figure of luxury and flamboyance in Nigeria’s political space shared a video showing off the interior of his multi-million Naira mansion, his travelling bag and his luxury cars.

In the video, Melaye—dressed casually—can be seen holding his travelling box as he strolls through his lavishly furnished mansion offering viewers a glimpse into his opulent lifestyle.

Reacting to the video, Charlyboy shared the video on his microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter, as he linked the politician to a person suffering from clinical depression.

He wrote; “This shows that even in the midst of luxury/obscene affluence, it is possible to be clinically depressed,not all forms of mental illness are discernible”

Dino Melaye, a well-known figure in Nigerian politics, represented Kogi West Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly. He is a long-standing member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and has also served in the House of Representatives. In 2015, he defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) but returned to PDP before the 2019 elections after a prolonged political rift with Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.

During his time in the Senate, Melaye served as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, and briefly led the Senate Committee on Aviation. In the lead-up to the 2023 general elections, he was appointed the spokesperson for PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar
