Annie Macaulay Idibia Nollywood actress has taken a trip down memory lane, reminiscing about her early days in the film industry before fame found her.
In a heartfelt post shared via her Instagram page, the mother of two recounted how, as a student at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), she would deliberately take longer routes through Surulere just to catch a glimpse of new movie posters.

Her hope each time was to spot her face on one, a sign that her latest movie had been released and that she was considered “poster-worthy” by marketers.

According to Annie, the dream wasn’t just to land acting roles, but to be seen as valuable enough to be featured prominently in promotional materials.
She wrote, “I remember how I usually took the long route, driving to school (UNILAG), so that I could check all the recent movie posters through Surulere to see if any of my new movies were out and if they put my face on the posters!
“The dream then wasn’t just to get the roles but to pray that the marketers would see your face as sellable enough to make the front poster! And grace found me!”
Celebrating how far she has come, Annie added that the tables have turned, she is now in the position to choose which projects she wants to take on, highlighting how much her status in Nollywood has grown.
“Now na dem dey rush us o. Now, na we dey choose which kain film we put our energy, our face and even our name o. Pow pow pow pow!”
Annie Idibia’s inspiring reflection has resonated with fans and fellow actors, many of whom praised her persistence and grace in navigating the competitive world of Nollywood.
