Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has weighed in on the controversial Mirabel’s rape case, stressing how defending anonymous accusers can discourage genuine victims from speaking out.

In a widely shared X post, Odumodublvck wrote: “THIS PERSON DID NOT HAVE A FACE AND PEOPLE WERE HOPING THAT THE GIRL WAS LYING. IMAGINE WHEN THE PERSON HAS A FACE. IMAGINE WHEN ITS THEIR BROTHER. THIS IS WHAT DISCOURAGES THE ACTUAL VICTIMS FROM COMING OUT. IF A SOCIETY IS READY TO DEFEND A FACELESS PERSON THEN WE ARE IN SOUP.”

This triggered widespread outrage, with many calling for justice. The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency after been tagged to the case, launched investigations but later transferred the case to Ogun State due to jurisdictional issues.

Mirabel later admitted in conversations that the rape did not occur, attributing her claims to personal struggles, possible drug use, and mental health challenges. She reportedly confessed to fabricating parts of the story.

Ogun State Police has detained her for questioning on charges of providing false information and wasting public resources. Authorities clarified she is under investigation, not formally arrested.
