Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has recently opened up about her long standing but lesser known involvement in movie directing, revealing that she has quietly been contributing behind the scenes for years.
Speaking further, the award winning actress disclosed that while she has never pursued directing as a full-time career, it’s always been a passion of hers.

“I’ve always directed movies, I just never did it for career sake,” Omotola said. “I’ve always helped directors behind the scenes and I’m very big on characterization.”
However, Omotola is known for her compelling performances and over two decades of acting excellence. Her passion for storytelling extends beyond acting, as she’s often been instrumental in shaping characters and guiding scenes on set even without formal credit.
Recalling back In June 2025, Omotola continued to advocate for structural changes in the Nollywood film industry, contrasting the lack of residuals in Nigeria with the positive treatment of actors in Hollywood.
