Papa Ajasco Announces New Identity After Dispute With Wale- Adenuga

Veteran Nigerian actor, Abiodun Ayoyinka has taken to social media to announce a change of identity, unveiling a new stage name after years of playing the character Papa Ajasco.

Ayoyinka, in a video posted on Instagram, introduced himself as Bondu Alaska, marking a shift from the role that made him widely known in the long-running series Papa Ajasco.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, good morning Nigerians. My name is Bondu Alaska. The one and only Bondu Alaska,” he said in the clip.

The veteran who recently lamented hardship thanked Nigerians, particularly his fans for their support following his recent viral interview. “I want to use this medium to thank Nigerians because they have done a lot in my life. I’m a new person now, and I promise that I will not let you down,” he added.

Following the rebranding of his new identity, the actor updated his Instagram handle to reflect the new name and asked fans and brands to engage with him under the Bondu Alaska identity.

The development comes after Papa Ajasco voiced grievances about inadequate remuneration, lack of personal benefits such as a car, and feeling undervalued despite years of dedication to the brand that made him a household name across Nigeria.

In response,  Wale Adenuga, the founder of Wale Adenuga Productions countered the narrative, asserting that Ayoyinka has received substantial support over the years.

Adenuga claimed that the actor owns a house in Ogun State, questioning the basis of his “broke” declarations.

The statement also referenced Ayoyinka’s over 30 years as a Lagos State civil servant, inquiring about his retirement gratuities and investments from that career.

WAP emphasised that artists are not restricted from other income sources, as filming typically requires only about six weeks annually, allowing time for side ventures.

The production house consistently met financial obligations and dismissed allegations of neglect or exploitation as misleading.
