Pastor Jerry Eze Publicly Thanks Couple Who Sponsored His Education

Jerry Eze

Jerry Eze, the Lead Pastor of Streams of Joy International, has publicly appreciated the couple who sponsored his education from secondary school through university.

During Sunday service, the pastor recounted his early years, revealing that his academic journey nearly ended in Junior Secondary School,  after his mother informed him she could not afford to pay for his senior secondary education.

According to him, he had begun considering learning a trade when a woman in his local church approached him with a life-changing message. She told him that she and her husband felt led to take responsibility for his education.

The couple not only funded his schooling from Senior Secondary School 1 to university level but also welcomed him into their home, where he lived throughout his formative years.

He noted that the couple had no prior relationship with him and were neither from his village nor state, yet they chose to invest in his future.

The cleric said their sacrifice and generosity shaped the trajectory of his life, adding that his story remains a testament to grace and the power of kindness.

In his words:  “I want to say thank you. And it’s such a beautiful day to tell a story of my life. I had a conversation with my mom in my JS3. My mom told me that the requirements for my senior secondary were too high for her to afford.

I should think about whether it was mechanic or tailoring. So I told her that tailoring would be better. And I went to church that evening.

I wasn’t bothered because I didn’t know that there was a life that could be better. That evening, I stood up to read a verse in church.

“And that my local church that I told you. She walked up to me. That local church. And told me. That God has asked her husband and herself to pay my fees.

“From my SS1 till I finished my university. They paid my fees. They took me there like their own son. They treated me like a man of God. Even though I was living with them.

“I didn’t lack anything. This woman is a kind woman. I call her the woman who saw tomorrow… She was there every step of the way. She would be with me.

“She would pray with me. We had countless times of prayer. I lived in their house from my SS1, from my J3 actually. Because when they came to my, she came to my house to tell my mom, allow me to come and live in their house.

“And my mom said that she should let her think about it. And so, when I asked my mom, “Why are you thinking about it?” My mom said, let me pray about it. It’s not every place that you go to. But the next morning, my mom spoke to me in tears and said, even though it’s paining her, the Holy Spirit said I should go.

“Maybe I will still be great, but maybe I will not know how to speak English. Maybe I’ll still be speaking. They paid for me. I’m not from their village.

“They don’t know me. They met me in church. They don’t know me anywhere. I’m not from even their state. But this kind couple. I’ve always told you what I’m talking about. I said there’s a kind couple that met me in church. I never lacked anything. My life is a testament of grace.”
