Making A Case For TikTok’s Peller
It is quintessential for Nigerians to desist from demeaning and deriding the character of Peller. A young man who has been able to influence a new generation and amass wealth with his charm and goofy personality should only be applauded for his ability to yield results rather than be condemned for being unserious and jocular with his outlook on life.
Call him whatever you like, Habeeb Hamzat who is otherwise known as Peller has been able to carve a niche for himself on the social media platform, TikTok. He is one of the most popular online streamers and he is ahead of the curve when it comes to content creation and propelling controversy on the internet- he knows how to make people talk, sends tongues wagging and he is the face of the ‘Gen Z content creators’.
Alongside his partner in crime, Jadrolita, Peller has been able to garner almost ten million views across his numerous social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. Creating content no matter how jocular, Peller has been able to disclose that all it takes to fascinate his audience is produce content that ought to make his followers laugh, though not comedy, just slapstick and irreverent conversations with the love of his life, Jadrolita who is also known as Jarvis.

Peller has been described as the most influential social media content creator by pundits. He has appeared on several red carpets of various events across the country, meeting with prominent leaders, for some reason, he has been seen as one of the most interesting is the most interesting content creator in Nigeria. While Peller has continued to attain prominence in his streaming career, his peers who want to be like him are beginning to disregard the importance of studying and acquiring knowledge. The modern Nigerian youth is concerned with the possession of money, acquisition of fast cars and one-night stands with honey bunnies, as seen in the newly released result of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the value of education and discipline has continued to descend rapidly into cesspool, everyone wants a form of quick cash, therefore the ability to mettle towards excellence has become the road less travelled.

Who Do We Blame?

Before criticizing Peller for doing what makes him happy by creating those ‘whiny’ content on social media, it is pivotal to look at the various reasons why the new generation of Nigerian youths have an apathetic personality towards the essence of excellence.
For every Peller, some leaders have created a structure that does not nurture progress or applaud hard work and dedication. Instead, people who work white collar jobs and civil servants are often treated like miscreants of the society. They are reminded that working hard and getting a degree doesn’t necessarily translate to success.
There must be something to give, if you want excellence, then you must be prepared to put in the hardwork, discipline and mettle towards the objective. The Nigerian system doesn’t support excellence, as it is seen from the upper echelon, those in power do not possess excellent personalities, therefore, the youths shouldn’t bother about character development, skill acquisition and goals (and objective) for their lives.

Conclusion

Nigerians should desist from bullying the 19-year-old lad, Peller on social media, he never mentioned that he wanted to become the face of ‘GenZ’, he only wanted to become a content creator and streamer, interestingly, he has been able to achieve his objective. What every other person must understand is that not everyone is going to become a streamer or content creator. In the modern world, everyone wants to put the entirety of their personal lives online, leaving little to imagination.
It is only advisable that young persons create a goal for themselves and pursue excellence instead of squandering time swiping across various social media platform. Don’t blame Peller for the failure of his contemporaries in the recently taken JAMB exam, it is the fault of the Nigerian government for failing to invest in the development of educational system and also the inability of youths to look beyond immediate gratification. There is so much to learn, but first, we must remove the specs from our eyes, give Peller and Jarvis a break.
