The Nigeria Police Force has denied allegations that Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo is wanted, dismissing a viral poster that claimed she was being sought by authorities.
The poster, which circulated widely on social media, offered a reward for information leading to her arrest.
In a statement on its verified social media page, the police described the poster as “fake and misleading,” urging Nigerians to disregard it and verify information only through official channels. “Fake news alert! This ‘wanted’ poster of actress Iyabo Ojo did not emanate from the Nigeria Police Force. It is false, misleading & was never posted on any official NPF platform. Disregard & stop spreading fake news. Verify only from official NPF channels,” the statement read.

The police emphasised the importance of verifying information through official channels to avoid spreading misinformation, which can lead to public panic or reputational damage.
Iyabo Ojo has not publicly commented on the matter, and the police have reassured the public that she is not under investigation.
This fake poster has however triggered reactions from social media users and here are some complied reactions;
One X user @Mezie wrote: “You see how narcissistic VDM and his followers have become? You people should keep encouraging monsters and bullies that you won’t be able to tame in the long run.”
Another user @Youth In Process said: “Even as the Police clarify this case, it reminds us why mass participation in elections is key: misinformation thrives where trust is weak. A nation’s stability and economy rest on citizens believing in the process.”
Foundational Ijesa Man commented: “People get mind-sha! I really want to see the police jail people for fake news and cyber crimes. If they do not, this rubbish will continue. There will be no single fear for the police and its image.”
@Àkànní said: “Track and send those behind the fake bulletin to jail. Don’t forget to parade them for all to see on this app. If you don’t then expect more in the future. Ire o.”
