Presenter Breaks Silence over Awkward Moment With Omotola Jalade at Miss Nigeria Dinner

Media presenter Andy Victor has addressed the controversy surrounding his viral interview with veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde at the 46th Miss Nigeria Patrons & Board Dinner.

eelieve.ng reports that the presenter had sparked online reactions after asking the award-winning actress to introduce herself during a live segment, a request that appeared to catch her off guard.

In the now-viral clip, Victor is heard saying, “Alright, welcome to 2026 Miss Nigeria dinner. I am currently live with…?” prompting Omotola to question his preparedness, then expressing her frustration and attempting to leave the interview.

Responding to the backlash, Victor, via a video posted on social media, clarified the circumstances surrounding the encounter. He maintained that Omotola was “very nice and accommodating” throughout the interaction, contrary to claims that she was harsh or dismissive.

According to him, he had intended to interview the actress earlier in the evening, but was engaged with other guests when she arrived. He explained that he decided to wait until she was leaving the event, but was still conducting another interview at the time.

“When she was leaving, I was interviewing someone else, and my media team had to call my attention. I had to quickly round up and meet up with Omotola,” he said, noting that the rush left him appearing tense and uncomposed.

Andy also pushed back against critics who labelled him unprofessional, revealing that he is a Mass Communication graduate of the University of Ibadan.

 He expressed gratitude to Omotola for granting him the interview and dismissed suggestions that the actress was mean during the exchange.
