Prince Harry and Meghan Markle marked their Valentine’s day by announcing that Meghan is pregnant with their second child!
“We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother,” the couple’s spokesperson said. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very glad to be expecting their second child.”
The Sussexes shared the news of the pregnancy with a photo of Meghan resting her head on Harry’s lap. Photographer Misan Harriman, a longtime friend of the Sussexes’, took the photo remotely, according to their spokesperson.
Harry and Meghan’s pregnancy announcement mirrors the late Princess Diana’s announcement 37 years ago; when the media confirmed she was pregnant with Harry on February 13, 1984.
Harry and Meghan Markle’s second child will be the fifth grandchild for Prince Charles and the 10th great-grandchild for Queen Elizabeth.
Meghan will most likely have the baby in California, where the couple moved to in early 2020 after stepping down from their royal duties.
Meghan gave birth to Archie in a London-area hospital on May 6, 2019. More than one year later, Meghan revealed in a New York Times op-ed that she and Harry suffered a pregnancy loss in July 2020. Read all about it here.
