
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has extended heartfelt encouragement to his nephew, Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, known as Davido, after the singer lost in the Best African Music Performance category at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.
The governor’s message came shortly after South African artiste Tyla clinched her second win in the category with her track “Push 2 Start,” edging out strong contenders including Davido’s “With You” featuring Omah Lay, Burna Boy’s “Love,” Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s “Gimme Dat,” and others.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Governor Adeleke wrote: “Proud of you always @davido ❤️”. The post, shared amid widespread disappointment among Nigerian fans, quickly gained engagement as netizens praised the “Dancing Governor” as he is popularly called, for always standing by the singer.

Davido, who attended the event with his wife Chioma, responded warmly: “Love u Excellency!!! We move ACCORDINGLY SIR.”
Adeleke has long celebrated his nephew’s achievements, from global tours and chart successes to cultural impact. The singer after losing out of the race for the fifth time, also received encouraging words from his fans across.
Fans of the 30BG bombarded Grammy’s comments section expressing their dissatisfaction with the winner of the category. Cubana Chief Priest, a prominent influencer and close friend to Davido, called Tyla an industry plant fixed there to always collect the wins.
