Uriel Oputa, the reality TV star and former Big Brother Naija housemate, has issued a stern warning to fans after a recent unpleasant run-in that left her visibly frustrated and calling for basic respect and boundaries.

In a strongly worded rant shared via her Instagram stories, Uriel recounted how what was meant to be a quiet shopping trip turned into an annoying spectacle when a fan cornered her at a supermarket to demand a selfie.

The media personality, who gained popularity during the BBNaija: ‘See Gobe season’ in 2017, explained that she had stepped out without makeup or any intention of being in the spotlight. But things quickly took an awkward turn.

This morning, early in the morning, I’m shopping, minding my business, about to pay, and you blocked me from taking a selfie,” she wrote. “Then, as if that’s not enough, you go and start looking for someone else to take a proper picture. My dear, I’m not dressed for a photoshoot, I came to buy things, not strike poses!”

Uriel, who is known for her outspoken nature and vibrant personality, didn’t mince words as she expressed her displeasure. The moment became even more uncomfortable when the fan attempted to shake her hand, a gesture Uriel has previously said she’s not comfortable with.

After all of that, you still stretch your hand to shake me? After I’ve said multiple times, I don’t shake hands. Not because I’m proud or rude, but because I’ve seen too much,” she emphasised.

Please, is there a brain cell we need to resurrect? Reboot? Recharge with NEPA light? Because I’m not understanding what’s going on. At this point, you guys are annoying. Stop trying to shake my hands.”

This isn’t the first time Uriel has spoken publicly about personal boundaries. Over the years, she has used her platform to advocate for mental health, personal space, and hygiene awareness, often urging fans to understand that celebrities are human too and deserve respect, especially in public settings.

Uriel, who is also a nutritionist and entrepreneur, has reinvented herself since her BBNaija days, focusing on wellness, content creation, and music.

However, with fame comes public attention, something she handles gracefully most times, but not when it crosses the line into intrusion.

Her latest message serves as a reminder to fans and the general public that celebrity status does not equal open access, and personal boundaries must be respected, whether it’s a selfie, a handshake, or even just some space.
