Ruger talks about sneaking out the house to party at age 9

Ruger, a Nigerian recording artiste has spoken about how he used to sneak out of the house at the tender age of 9 to party.

The singer-songwriter, whose real name is Michael Adebayo Olayinka, was sneaking out to parties to listen and dance to Afrobeats.

Ruger featured in a recent episode of the Afrobeats Intelligence podcast hosted by Joey Akan.

“I was sneaking out to go to parties to listen to Afrobeats and Dancehall. I was not up to 10 years old then, but I knew how to dance. So I would just go to parties and shake my body,” he said.

Ruger Rose to fame with the release of his song ‘Bounce’, which led him to sign a recording deal with Jonzing World in 2021. That same year, he released his debut EP, ‘Pandemic’, which cemented his stardom.

The singer left Jonzing World in 2024 to start his own imprint, called Blown Boy Entertainment, following a fallout with his record label boss D’Prince.
