The Nigerian online community is buzzing with mixed reactions following a public outburst from singer Crayon, formerly of Mavin Records, who accused label boss Don Jazzy of serious misconduct, including unpaid royalties, “stealing his star,” and even linking the executive to his mother’s death as music producer Samklef weighs in on the viral controversy.
Crayon, signed to Mavin in 2019, reportedly vented frustration in a series of fiery tweets, calling Don Jazzy “my boy” in a derogatory tone and vowing to bring down the label.
He claimed Mavin earned massive sums, allegedly up to $200 million, without compensating him adequately, while hinting at favouritism toward stars like Rema and Ayra Starr over other acts such as Magixx and Boy Spyce.
Reports suggest Crayon has since parted ways with Mavin, possibly moving to a new venture under “Olodum Entertainment.”

The veteran music producer in a series of posts, said, “I tell una say jazzy go cast soon! Dem don see donjazzy finish crayon even call am him boy chai!”
Samklef further claimed, “Mavin is already gone. Donjazzy has offended someone and the gods fighting back. I go explain soon.”
Neither Don Jazzy nor Mavin Records has publicly responded to the claims as of press time, leaving fans divided, with some defending the label’s track record of launching global stars, while others call for greater transparency in artist contracts.
