Guinness World Record holder and Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci on Friday, September 12, launched her ambitious bid to cook the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice.
The event, held at Eko Hotel drew thousands of enthusiastic supporters eager to cheer her on and sample the culinary star’s signature dish. Many others followed the historic attempt online, flooding social media with words of encouragement.
The occasion also attracted an impressive lineup of Nigerian celebrities who came out in person to show their support. Among them were Funke Akindele, Tiwa Savage, Veekee James, Enioluwa, Tomike Adeoye, Folagade Banks, Bam Bam, and Tacha.

Notable dignitaries were also in attendance, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lead Pastor Bolaji Idowu, the First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, as well as a host of social media influencers and TikTok creators.
Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, praised Baci for her bold effort, pledging support for similar initiatives that showcase Nigerian excellence on the global stage. He urged young Nigerians to emulate Baci’s discipline and hard work, expressing hope that her record attempt would inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs and creatives.
The event, at somepoint evolved into a vibrant celebration of food, music, and national pride. Attendees embraced the moment as both a showcase of Nigeria’s rich food culture and a testament to Baci’s culinary expertise.
Guinness World Records officials were also on-site to verify the attempt, carefully monitoring ingredient quantities, pot dimensions, and cooking processes to ensure compliance with official standards.
