Senator Ned Nwoko, has reacted to the tearful apology video of the TikTok user who falsely accused him of plotting to assassinate his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels.
In a detailed statement shared on his verified social media pages, the billionaire politician described the incident as a obvious example of the chaos in Nigeria’s unregulated social media ecosystem.

“The accompanying video trended a couple of days ago,” Nwoko wrote. “It is testament to the fact that the Nigerian social media space has become one of the most unregulated in the world. Laying very serious allegations has become a common trait to attract millions of views without recourse to the damaging effects on the people involved.”

The senator stressed that many content creators now deliberately spread dangerous falsehoods for clout and revenue, only to issue apologies when faced with legal or public backlash.
“You stir public emotions, defame people criminally, make your money, and when the heat is too much, you come back crying for forgiveness. This cannot continue,” he stated.
Nwoko, however, used the opportunity to renew his push for the controversial Social Media Regulation Bill currently before the National Assembly, stating that platforms must be held accountable for harmful content.
“You cannot lie to make money and turn around to apologize after criminally defaming and hurting people,” he concluded.
