Controversial Nigerian crossdresser and social media personality Bobrisky has unleashed a scathing attack on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing the anti-graft agency of selective justice amid rising insecurity in the country.

In a now-viral post on Instagram, the self-styled “Mummy of Lagos” lamented that bandits operating in Nigeria’s Northwest and North-central regions freely collect ransoms from victims and brazenly post photos and videos of themselves with the cash online.

According to Bobrisky, the Nigerian government appears powerless against these criminals, while the EFCC aggressively targets ordinary citizens for minor offences.

Only in Nigeria bandit will collect ransom and still post their face and the cash online because they know Nigeria govt have no power over them. Effc won’t see those ones and go after them but will go after people for spraying money in a party… i regret i was born in Nigeria. Shame !!!!!” he wrote.

Bobrisky knocks EFCC in scathing post

The outburst has sparked a massive online reaction, with many Nigerians echoing Bobrisky’s frustration over the government’s priorities.

The post is particularly ironic given Bobrisky’s own history with the EFCC. In April 2024, the crossdresser, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, was arrested and prosecuted by the agency for money abuse, specifically the illegal spraying and mutilation of naira notes at social events.

He pleaded guilty to the charge, becoming the first high-profile celebrity convicted under the Central Bank of Nigeria Act for currency abuse. He was sentenced to six months in prison without the option of a fine.
