Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Chibuzor Iyele, popularly known as Hermes, has opened up about the painful experience of growing up without his mother.
In a recent interview on the show WithChude, Hermes shared deep and emotional details about his childhood, revealing how his mother walked away from the family during their toughest times.
According to him, everything changed after his father lost his job. Hermes explained that his father, who was working with UNICEF at the time, was laid off and things became very difficult for the family.

He said the situation got so bad that they had to leave their home and move into an uncompleted building just to have a roof over their heads.
“My dad lost his job, and we couldn’t afford to stay where we were. So, we packed our things and moved into an uncompleted building,” Hermes said during the interview.
He added that his mother refused to join them and left the same night. She was gone for seven whole years.
“My mum didn’t want to follow us to the uncompleted building. That night, she left and didn’t come back until seven years later,” he revealed.
Despite the hurt, Hermes said he has decided not to hate his mother. He believes that love from his father helped him forgive and still hold some love in his heart for her.
“My dad raised us with love and care. He was there for us even when he had nothing. That’s why I can still love my mum. Their marriage wasn’t a happy one, and maybe she felt she had to do what she did,” he said.
The reality TV star is known for always speaking his truth and being open about his personal struggles.
