Nollywood actress and influencer, Annie Macaulay has taken to social media to throw a subtle shade, seemingly directed at her ex-husband, Innocent “2Baba” Idibia’s mother, Rose Idibia.
In a birthday tribute to her mother, Grace Essien, Annie praised her as a selfless grandmother, emphasising that her children need no other grandparent figure.
She wrote: “So selfless, especially when it comes to her grandchildren. She puts them first always! Having her alone is all they need in a grandparent. The best! Happy Birthday to my sweet mother!! With you, my kids don’t need any other. You are simply the best.”
She added in another post, “Happy birthday to my best friend!! The Best grandma a kid could ask for, My children are so blessed to have you, mom.”

The post is coming months after 2Baba announced the end of his marriage to Annie in January 2025.
The couple, who wed in a lavish ceremony in 2013, were together for over a decade and share two daughters. Their marriage, however, was marked by years of turbulence, often fueled by 2Baba’s relationships with Pero Adeniyi and Sunmbo Adeoye, both of whom also had children with him.
With six children from three different women, 2Baba’s personal life became a recurring subject of media scrutiny, leaving Annie to frequently defend their union in the public eye.
