The Nigeria Police Force, through Force Public Relations Officer ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, has issued a detailed counterstatement to allegations of assault levelled by popular Nigerian influencer and actress Abike Raheem Papaya Ex.
In a post on X captioned, ACP Hundeyin outlined the genesis of events leading up to Papaya Ex’s live video, which has since gone viral with claims that an officer hit her face with a gun, slapped her, and inappropriately touched her.

According to Hundeyin: “Just before 2 a.m., officers on night patrol in the Ajah area stopped a car carrying three men and two women. The officers requested to search the vehicle, but the woman (identified as Papaya Ex) refused bluntly, stating: “You cannot search my car. Don’t you know Papaya? Even your bosses know me.”

She opted to follow the officers to the station instead. An officer entered her vehicle with her SUV leading and the patrol van following. She allegedly instructed her driver to speed off, outdistancing the patrol vehicle to the point where it risked losing them.
Hundeyin revealed that the officer then alerted other teams, who stopped the vehicle again, only after which her live session began.
Hundeyin tagged the Lagos State Police Command, noting that they would provide further official updates on handling and investigation.
In the influencer’s viral videos, as reported by eelive.ng, she showed her injuries and crying out over the alleged assault during what she described as a return from a film shoot.
