Simi Under Fresh Fire as Nigerian Woman Abroad Calls Her Tweets ‘Insane’

An abroad-based Nigerian woman has publicly criticised recent comments attributed to popular singer Simi, describing them as “insane” and sparking fresh debate across social media.

In a strongly worded post, the woman reflected on her personal experience working at a daycare centre at the age of 23. She stated that during her time caring for children, it never once crossed her mind to interpret any child’s behaviour as romantic or flirtatious.

When I was 23 years old working at a daycare, not once did it cross my mind that any of the children I was watching wanted to kiss or lock lips with me, or were flirting with me,” she said.

Her remarks appear to be a response to ongoing discussions triggered by Simi’s tweets. However, others argue that the conversation touches on sensitive boundaries involving adults and minors.

eelive.ng reported on February 23rd, taking back to Simi’s 2012 post, the singer wrote about a four-year-old child having a crush on her and “acting like he wana loc lip” with her. In another tweet, she appeared to joke about the same child “trying to put hand inside my shet (sic).”
