Nigerian singer, Ahmed Ololade known as Asake, has disclosed that he has moved to Los Angeles, United States.
The ‘Omo Ope’ singer, in a recent interview with Office Magazine, talked about his new life and outlook, pointing out that life in Los Angeles is just as driven as in Nigeria, describing both as places “where people are trying to make it every day”.
He believes that opportunity exists everywhere and sees every person and place as having the same chance for success.
The 30-year-old songwriter also shared that living in Los Angeles helps him meet new collaborators who help him grow as an artist.

“To be honest, it’s still the same thing. Humans are the same. People are trying to make it in Nigeria. People are trying to make it in America. People are rich in Nigeria. People are rich in America. People buy new houses every day in Nigeria. People buy new houses in America everyday,” he said.
“There are so many talents in LA, there are so many talents in Nigeria. I think it’s the same thing, there’s nothing different for me. The only thing I can say is I just get to meet new people and have more exposure like from what I’ve been used to.”

When asked how he stays grounded in a new environment, Asake said that spending time alone is important to him.
He explained that he spends most of his time alone, and that this quiet helps him stay connected to himself.
Asake also said that his early environment helped shape his love for music. He grew up listening to the music his parents enjoyed, especially the Fuji music of the legendary Ayinde Barrister.

He said: “My dad loved real musicians, you mentioned one of them now, Ayinde Barrister. My mom loved the same sound too.
“So it’s like if both of your parents liked Michael Jackson, there’s no way if you live with them, you won’t end up liking Michael Jackson.
“Back home, we don’t really have too much power in the house to be able to play any kind of sound you want to listen to.”
