Afrobeats singer Charles Chibuezechukwu, better known by his stage name Crayon has shared an emotional tribute to his mother, Evelyn Chukwu, who passed away on July 4th.
In a touching post on X, Crayon expressed the pain of losing his beloved mother, describing her as his rock, backbone, and angel.

“Mummy, July 4th was the darkest day of my life. I lost my soldier, my backbone, my angel, and my pillar. My best friend, the woman I loved most in this world – I lost you. Our last conversation still echoes in my mind; you prayed for me just days before you left us. I never knew those would be your final words of blessing.”

“The moment I saw you lifeless in that hospital bed shattered me. It was my greatest fear realized. I struggle to accept that’s the last image I’ll ever have of you. You always taught us to trust God’s plan, but I’ve been questioning why since that fateful day. Mummy, I’ve asked God why – why now? Why you? Why me? Why us?,” Crayon asked bitterly.

“After all we’ve endured, why did God bless us only for you to leave me now? What’s the purpose of our struggles if not to enjoy the fruits of our labor together? Four days before my birthday, you left me, Mummy… how do we celebrate now?,” he continued.
“You carried our family’s burdens for years, my warrior! What does life mean without you? So many questions I’ll never find answers to. I’ll never be the same; I’m scarred forever. Every milestone, every achievement – nothing will feel the same without you.”

The Mavin signee ended, “As we laid you to rest, I know you wanted me to stay strong and keep pushing forward. I promise to care for Naza and our family. I love you so much, Mummy, and I miss you every day. I’ll never say goodbye because I know you’re with me, living through me. Thank you for everything, my beautiful mother. Until we meet again, my angel. RIP, Evelyn Chukwu.”
