Salomey Ankrah, the Popular Ghanaian content creator widely known as Sister Salo, has emphasised that creativity is an expression of talent and not necessarily a reflection of one’s personality or character.
Despite her naturally shy disposition, Sister Salo has become one of the most recognisable and hilarious figures in the digital comedy space. Speaking in a statement made available to The Nation on Friday, she reflected on her rise to fame, highlighting the difficulties she faced in breaking into the entertainment industry.
“Content creation is not easy. I fought for it and for the fame,” she said. “I still haven’t reached my goal, but I’m super proud of how far I’ve come.”
Born in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, Salomey Ankrah is the eldest daughter of her parents and the sister of Mercy Ankrah. Raised in a Christian home, she attended Catab Senior High School and later trained as a nurse at Sefwi Wiaso Nursing Training College.

Though reserved by nature, Salomey discovered her gift for making people laugh, a spark that would later shape her journey into comedy. She ventured into content creation in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, a period that shifted how people connected and consumed entertainment. Inspired by Ghanaian online stars like Nana Ama McBrown, Asantewaa, Jackline Mensah, and ErkuahOfficial, she began creating her own skits on TikTok.
Initial engagement was slow, but Sister Salo stayed the course, eventually developing a distinctive comedic style that won over audiences. Her growing popularity came despite facing intense cyberbullying in her early days online.
“Cyberbullying was my first challenge, which I overcame with time. In my journey of content creation, I have achieved a lot in terms of financial gains, popularity, and fame,” she revealed. “One of the major challenges is barely having any free time because millions of people are waiting for new content. But the good part is, it opens doors to even more fame and opportunities.”
Interestingly, Sister Salo’s parents were unaware of her move into entertainment until they saw her appear on television. That moment, she recalled, marked a turning point in how her family viewed her career.
Now a household name, Sister Salo continues to shine online with her unique blend of humor and authenticity. Her story is a powerful example of how passion, perseverance, and creativity can break barriers and overcome societal expectations.
