Julius Agwu

Nigerian stand-up comedian, actor, and singer Julius Agwu faced a life-threatening health crisis in 2015. After being diagnosed with three brain tumors, he underwent a four-hour surgery in the United States. Recounting his experience, Agwu shared a profound moment where he felt his late father, who passed away in 2002, appeared to him, urging him to “go back” from the brink of death. Following his surgery and recovery, Agwu returned to the entertainment industry in 2016, ready to bring laughter and joy back to his fans.

Prince Chukwuemeka Ani

This veteran actor has been battling severe health conditions, including a chronic sore on his anus and diabetes, since December last year. He underwent surgery, but his condition worsened, and he needs approximately 2.8 million Naira for treatment.

Kemi Afolabi

Kemi Afolabi, a Nollywood actress, revealed in January 2022 that she was diagnosed with lupus, an autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system attacks its tissues and organs. According to her doctor, she was given five years to live after the diagnosis. However, as of June 2022, she her begun treatment for ailment at John Hopkins Hospital in Maryland, United States.

The veteran Nollywood actor, has been battling Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB), a degenerative brain disease that’s similar to Parkinson’s. According to his wife, Joke Silva, who spoke about her husband’s health in November 2021 stated that he’s been dealing with this condition for several years however, the actor is still alive.

Banky W

Music mogul Banky W revealed in 2017 that he’d been fighting skin cancer for 10 years. He’d undergone three surgeries for a rare type of skin cancer tumor in his shoulder. Thankfully, he announced that he’d been completely cured, thanking God, his wife, and others for their support. A 2018 pathology test confirmed he was cancer-free.

Uche Ogbodo

In 2020, Uche was diagnosed with angioedema, a rare disease that affects the deeper layers of the skin, causing severe swelling, particularly in the face and lips. The condition worsened, requiring her admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where her doctor delivered devastating news – the condition could only be managed, and the worst-case scenario was death.

However, during this challenging time, Uche discovered she was pregnant, and astonishingly, the pregnancy seemed to have triggered a positive response in her body, effectively curing her of the ailment. Uche believes that her pregnancy was a turning point in her life, saving her from the terminal disease and giving her a new lease on life.

Ngozi Nwosu

In 2013, Ngozi, a talented actress, sought public assistance for a kidney and heart-related condition, requiring N6 million for treatment. Fortunately, the Lagos Government stepped in to provide the necessary funds. She was flown to the UK for treatment, underwent a successful operation, and has since made a triumphant return to acting.

Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo) battled a serious illness from 2014, taking eight years to recover. Rumors swirled about his condition, with false claims of cocaine use and HIV/AIDS. The actual cause was appendicitis complications following surgery in 2012, which worsened after a trip to Dubai.
