Controversial Nigerian entertainer Speed Darlington, better known as Akpi, has publicly declared his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, offering to mobilise grassroots voters, especially in the Southeast.
In the viral video shared, Darlington directly appealed to Seyi Tinubu, son of the President and leader of the City Boy Movement saying: “I wish to link up with Tinubu so we can make 2027 election a success.”
He highlighted his edge over other influencers like Obi Cubana and Cubana Chief Priest, claiming they “don’t even visit their villages” and need heavy security, while he moves freely in rural areas like Imo State because locals love and trust him.

“I’m more grassroots than they are,” he asserted, positioning himself as the ideal mobiliser to rally street-level and village support for the APC candidate.
The announcement was greeted with mixed minds as critics mock the singer for his shift from backing the former Labor Party presidential candidate Peter Obi 2023 and pro-Biafra views. His critics voice are currently louder than supporters as they dubbed his move as clout-chasing or a bid for patronage.
