The theme of suicide and self-harm was predominant throughout the third season of Squid Game. Lead character, Gi-hun, a previous winner who returned to the game to ‘destroy’ the organization from the inside, took his own life in the concluding episode of season three.
Moments before taking his own life, Gi-hun said, “We are not horses, we are humans and the humans are….” before jumping off the cliff to sacrifice himself over the baby.

In the final game, Gi‑hun sacrifices himself by jumping off the platform so that Jun‑hee’s baby (Player 222) can survive and win.
