Controversial relationship coach Blessing CEO has defended Rita Daniels, the mother of Nollywood star Regina Daniels following public backlash over Regina’s marriage to billionaire and politician, Senator Ned Nwoko.
This comes after netizens accused Rita Daniels of influencing her daughter’s decision to marry a much older man in a polygamous setting. But in a recent Instagram video, Blessing CEO dismissed those claims, saying it is unfair to hold parents responsible for choices made by their grown children.
She said: “Enough of this ‘it’s the mother’s fault’ talk, “when did you become stubborn? When did you start sneaking around to meet men? What age were you when you got pregnant or ran away from home? Stop acting like parents control adults.”
Blessing went on to share her own story, explaining that she ignored her parents’ advice as a teenager and married early despite their objections.
“At 15, nobody could talk sense into me.My parents flogged and begged me not to marry. My father woke me up at 3am pleading. He asked what a man could give me that he couldn’t. I was in UNICAL, and we were not poor. Yet I still made my choice,” she recalled.
She further criticised Nigerians for what she described as double standards: encouraging women to speak out, then ridiculing them when they do.
“You tell women to voice their struggles, but once they talk, you mock them. Make up your minds,” she said.
Blessing concluded by urging the public to stop passing judgment, noting that young adults often make misguided decisions.
