Nigerian actor and content creator Yemi Elesho has shared candid insights into the realities of the Nollywood industry, emphasising that talent alone is not sufficient for success.
Elesho made the remarks during a recent appearance on the 10Questions podcast hosted by media personality Kemi Posh, where he discussed the expectations and hierarchy within the Nigerian film space.
According to Elesho, many theatre students often enter the industry with the belief that their talent will automatically open doors. However, he stressed that the reality is far more complex, requiring not only skill but also a deep understanding of respect and structure within the profession.

“As a theatre student, you sometimes believe talent is enough. There are bosses in the industry that you have to respect, and it doesn’t really have to do with age,” he said.
Elesho went on to explain that respect in Nollywood goes beyond seniority in age, noting that individuals who have built influence and credibility within the industry command a level of regard that must be acknowledged by upcoming actors.
Host Kemi Posh, known for her engaging interview style on the 10Questions podcast, provided a platform for the conversation, which continues to resonate with young talents seeking to understand the inner workings of the entertainment industry.
