Taye Arimoro Drags DGN, AGN & AMP to Court, Demands ₦1BN Damages

Nollywood actor Taye Arimoro has escalated his dispute with the industry’s major guilds, formally initiating a lawsuit against the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP).

eelive.ng understands that the actor is demanding a public retraction of the sanctions and ₦1billion Naira  damages over “Unfair” sanction.

The legal action follows a joint decision by the three bodies to impose an indefinite suspension on Arimoro stemming from an alleged physical altercation on a movie set with producer Peggy Ovire.

Taking back to November 29th and 30th 2025, DGN, AGN, and AMP jointly suspended Taye Arimoro from all film productions.

This followed an on-set altercation between him and filmmaker/actress Peggy Ovire during the shooting of the movie “Pieces of Love”.

According to the guilds’ statement, they found Arimoro to be the “primary aggressor.” They said he assaulted the production manager and a driver, and also circulated what they called a “false live video” misrepresenting the events, thereby tarnishing Ovire’s reputation. As part of the sanctions, Arimoro was directed to issue a public apology, release a corrective video stating the actual sequence of events, and complete his remaining scenes under supervised conditions.

However, at this moment, the situation remains in a sort of limbo: Arimoro has signaled his intention to take legal action, until a formal lawsuit appears in court filings with a case number, hearing date, and service of process the claim remains speculative.
