Nigerian reality star, Tolani Shobajo, who is better known as Tbaj or Tolanibaj, has admonished underwhelming musicians to retire.
According to former Big Brother Naija contestant, there is nothing wrong should musicians decide to retire or choose to evolve if they are unable to garner clout as much as they used to.
TBaj questioned why many OG artists seem to struggle with knowing when to transition. She pointed out that growth doesn’t always mean still chasing hits. According to her, sometimes it’s about moving into new roles — like business, mentorship, or executive leadership — where they can shine just as brightly.

In her words,
“If your sound no longer resonates with your fans or your sound is outdated, then go into business.”
She praised industry legends like Olamide and Don Jazzy for setting powerful examples, saying, “Olamide and Don Jazzy are perfect examples of who OG artists should embody.” Both have become musical bosses who now light the path for new talents and build up the next generation.
TBaj also didn’t hold back on the quality of music being pushed by some older artists today. She asked why musicians with rich catalogues of past bangers would allow themselves to be pressured by fans into dropping music that doesn’t match their legacy.
She said, “ *There is no shame in retiring. Stop dropping nonsense music to water down your brand, especially if your catalogue in the past is A1.”
