Nigerian artist Terry G has spoken out in support of Burna Boy following the Grammy-winning star’s controversial decision to remove a couple from his concert in Colorado for sleeping during his performance.
Terry G, known for his eccentric performances and strong stage presence, backed Burna Boy’s move, likening the situation to a person falling asleep during a church service. He questioned why some fans pay for live experiences only to disengage at the most critical moments, especially when they know cameras are likely to capture their behavior.
“Because he’s a secular musician, you are going to his show to sleep, If it happened in a church and someone was found sleeping, would the pastors not ask the ushers to wake them up?” Terry G said.
The incident, which occurred earlier this month, drew mixed reactions online after Burna Boy abruptly paused his set upon noticing the woman asleep beside her partner and had them escorted out.

Burna Boy later explained his actions, stating that he is highly protective of the energy on his stage, especially as he continues to navigate personal struggles such as PTSD. According to him, maintaining a high-energy atmosphere is critical, and distractions as seemingly harmless as a dozing fan can be disruptive.
However, the woman involved later revealed that she was grieving the recent death of her child’s father and was attending the concert as her first outing in a long time. She cited exhaustion from the show’s late start as the reason she briefly nodded off.
