Nigerian music video director ThankGod Smith Omori, popularly known as TG Omori or Boy Director, has come under heavy criticism following his recent comments about homosexuality.

In a now-trending post on his official X account, TG Omori condemned same-gender s3x, describing it as “evil.”

He wrote: “Having same gender sex is evil.”

The post instantly sparked backlash from Nigerians, many of whom called him out for what they described as blatant homophobia.

One user replied: “Nigga, you have more problems to worry about with your ugly-looking ssa face.”

Another commented: “Stupidity aside, what exactly is wrong with Nigerians? You’re an award-winning director whose art clearly reaches beyond your community, yet here you are being openly homophobic. Don’t you people have handlers or at least a peer review before tweeting? Ọ ga o.”

Reactions from Nigerians

Others challenged his use of the word evil, pointing out that it is not a biblical description of homosexuality:

“The Bible never actually calls homosexuality ‘evil.’ In Leviticus, it’s labeled an abomination, a term used for ritual purity laws, the same category as eating shrimp or wearing mixed fabrics. If we’re being biblical, ‘evil’ was reserved for oppression, injustice, and idolatry. Homosexuality is mentioned far less in the Bible than fornication, stealing, adultery, or even oppression.”

Reactions from angry Nigerians

The commenter concluded:

“But you probably already know this. We just enjoy distracting ourselves with things that make us feel powerful, pointing fingers and saying, ‘At least I’m not that.’”

In August 2024, TG Omori underwent a failed kidney transplant.

He disclosed in September 2024 that he wasn’t prepare to give up just yet and would be returning to the mainstream in 2025.

Giving an update in a series of tweets, Omori emphasised the importance of maintaining the right mindset in the face of illness.

Sharing a photo of himself, he wrote; “It’s mind over matter. If the mind is defeated, it’s only a matter of time before the body falls.

“Pain has no power over me. I will be back in 2025. Stay in love!.”
