Nigerian hip-hop artiste Blaqbonez has voiced his profound frustration regarding the political landscape of the country, stating that he no longer participates in the electoral process due to a lack of faith in systemic reform.

The artiste lamented the constitutional age restrictions placed on the nation’s highest office, pointing out that Nigeria may never see a president under the age of 30.

For the rapper, this barrier to youth leadership is a major factor in his decision to abstain from voting during general elections, as he feels meaningful transformation is functionally impossible under the current structure.

Blaqbonez, whose real name is Emeka Akumefule, compared the West African nation to a dying organism, suggesting that the core societal and political foundations have decayed beyond repair.

Nigeria can never have a president younger than 30 years old,  I don’t even vote during elections because I feel real change can never happen.

“Nigeria is like a tree where the root is already rotten I honestly don’t believe in anybody’s vision for the country.” he said.

Despite various socio-political movements aimed at increasing youth inclusion in politics, Blaqbonez remains unconvinced that any current or future leader can salvage the situation.
