Nigerian musicians are worshipped, but nobody hyped Nollywood,” Okeke said, expressing his frustration.

He noted that while platforms like Netflix are exposing Nollywood to global audiences, few musicians openly recommend or hype Nigerian films, actors, or producers.

Okeke reflected on how global figures like former U.S. President Barack Obama publicly promote music they enjoy, wondering the impact it would have if Nigerian music stars did the same for Nollywood. “If they can do it for us, why can’t we do it for ourselves?” he asked.

Recall that every summer. Obama shares a list of his songs for the season noting the these songs help him relax and connect. Stars like Burna Boy, Rema, BNXN formerly known as Buju are regular artistes in the former US President’s playlist.
