The Nigerian superstar once again came up short at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, failing to claim his first-ever Grammy win despite strong fan expectations and a competitive nomination in the Best African Music Performance category.

The 68th Grammys, held at the Crypto.com Arena on February 1, saw South African artist Tyla secure the award for her track “Push 2 Start,” marking her second consecutive win in the category since its inception.

Other nominees included heavyweights like Burna Boy (“Love”), Davido featuring Omah Lay (“With You”), Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid (“Gimme Dat”), and Eddy Kenzo with Mehran Matin (“Hope & Love”).

The loss has sparked widespread disappointment among fans and industry observers, with many pointing to perceived biases in the Recording Academy’s voting process.

Davido has yet to publicly comment extensively on the 2026 results, though past losses have seen him remain positive, focusing on his legacy, ongoing projects, and the broader growth of African music internationally. Supporters, including family and peers, have rallied with encouragement, with one viral message from his father calling him “still a legend.”
