Former Big Brother Naija Season 9 housemate, Nelly Mbonu, has stirred controversy with her blunt opinion about fellow housemates and celebrity twin brothers, Ozee and Ocee Mbadiwe, popularly known as the Mbadiwe Twins.
In a candid interview with Hip TV, Nelly didn’t hold back her thoughts, asserting that the twins brought little or no value to the show and should not have made it past the first eviction. According to her, their participation in the popular reality show was more about their influential surname than genuine entertainment or competitive value.
“The Mbadiwe Twins’ surname made most housemates interested in them,” Nelly said. “They were well respected in the house because of the name. But it wasn’t a thing for me. I don’t care.”
She suggested that the other housemates were overly influenced by the brothers’ social standing and family background, treating them with more admiration than they actually earned through gameplay or personality. Nelly maintained that she personally wasn’t moved by their status and didn’t find their presence in the house meaningful or impactful.

“Mbadiwe Twins should have been evicted in the first week,” she continued. “I feel like they were not supposed to be in Big Brother’s house, to be honest. I felt like they were just… I don’t know, I cannot just say what they were doing in the house.”

While acknowledging that the twins may have had some merit as contestants, Nelly firmly believes they were miscast for Season 9, which she described as demanding more dynamic and entertaining housemates.
“They might deserve to be on the show, but not this season,” she added. “I don’t have anything against them, but they are just pissing me off. They annoyed me.”
The remarks have sparked debate online, with fans split between those who agree with her and others who believe her criticisms are rooted in personal bias. Some fans argue that the twins brought a calm, cultured energy to the house, while others agree that their gameplay was forgettable and lacked excitement.
The Mbadiwe Twins, known for their striking appearance and quiet demeanor, were among the more reserved housemates this season. They rarely got involved in major conflicts or controversies, which may have contributed to Nelly’s assessment that they didn’t bring enough “heat” to the house.
As BBNaija Season 9 continues to trend on social media, Nelly’s comments have added fresh spice to the ongoing discussions about who truly deserves to be in the Big Brother house and what qualities make for a memorable housemate.
So far, the twins have not publicly responded to Nelly’s statements, but fans will be watching closely to see if they address the controversy or choose to rise above it.
