Tiwa Savage, the popular Nigerian singer, has shared new details about her relationship preferences, saying she is now ready to make different choices in her love life.
The ‘Koroba’ hitmaker admitted that in the past, she dated men who were not as financially buoyant as she is, thinking money did not matter as long as there was love. But according to her, that mindset has changed.
Speaking in a candid interview with British media personality, Zeze Mills, Tiwa explained that she has reached a point in her life where money is now one of the major things she considers before dating anyone.
“I used to make the mistake of dating down, saying I don’t care if you’re not making money, it’s just love. But now, I think I need someone that just has money. Love is really nice, but you can judge me if you want,” she said.
Tiwa went on to say she has already experienced dating men who earn less for many years, and now wants to see what it feels like to be with a man who is financially ahead.

“I want to try that, dating someone who’s wealthier. I have tried the other way for so many years. Let me try what it’s like dating a wealthy man,” she added.
Tiwa Savage, who is one of Nigeria’s biggest music exports, has enjoyed a career spanning over a decade with several hit songs and international collaborations.
She married her former manager, Tunji Balogun, popularly known as Teebillz, in 2013. The marriage, which was celebrated as one of the biggest celebrity weddings at the time, ended in 2018 after both parties could not resolve their differences despite several attempts.
The singer’s new comments have sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians sharing different opinions about whether money should play a major role in choosing a partner.
