In an article written by eelive.ng several days ago, Nigerian reality star-cum-actor, Tobi Bakre featured as the lead character in the Nollywood blockbuster Gangs of Lagos. He played the role of Obalola Akande, a charismatic and ambitious young man who worked as one of the minions for corrupt leaders.
In the movie, his objective was to become the ‘Eleniyan’, which translates to a very important person or an influential figure.

Before we delve into the successful acting career of Bakre, it is essential we take a look at his family background.
He is the second son of Chief Olufemi Bakre, the Otunba Bobaselu of Awa-Ijebu Kingdom, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, who is also the Managing Director / CEO of Parallex Bank.
His older brother is Femi Bakre, CEO of Kraks TV.
Bakre first gained modest notoriety when he appeared in the most-watched Nigerian reality show, Big Brother Naija Double Wahala in 2018. He finished as the second runner-up.
During his time on the show, Bakre was renowned for his leadership and visionary skills. He was good at organization and administration and had impressive people skills. At the time, only 23, he was able to give the viewers a worthwhile show.
They tuned in to watch him compete and dominate his colleagues. He was also involved in an on-and-off relationship with fellow contestant Cee C; the relationship failed to sail due to the contrasting temperaments of Bakre and his love interest, Cee C.

Emerging from the most-watched Nigerian reality show, Big Brother Naija, in 2018, Bakre would go on to further etch his name in the legendary books by appearing in several blockbuster films such as Gangs of Lagos and Brotherhood.
It is important to note that the aim and objective of most Big Brother Naija contestants is to appear in a movie and dominate the industry; unfortunately, this has been an almost impossible feat to attain.
