Top Nigerian Celebrities Who Dumped Christianity For Islam in 2025

Some Nigerian celebrities this year, for reasons best known to them, have left Christianity to embrace Islam. While this has come as a surprise to many, especially their fans, Nigerian law upholds everyone’s right to practice the religion of their choice.

In this article we would be looking briefly at celebrities who converted to Islam.

Burna Boy

Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, who is better known as Burna Boy, recently disclosed that that he has converted from Christianity to Islam because of his search for truth.

In a recent interview with streamer Playboymax, Burna Boy explained that the more he researches religious books to find meanings, the more confused he becomes.

“Growing up, I was a Christian, and then I converted to Islam. It’s like I’ve studied it all, but I’m still out here trying to find out what is really going on, you know? The more I research, the more confused I get,” he said.

Priscilla Ojo

Priscilla Ojo, daughter of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, also converted to Islam from Christianity, according to her husband, Juma Jux.

The Tanzanian singer, who is Muslim, married Priscilla earlier in the year in a talk of African ceremony that went on for days and spanned two countries, Nigeria and Tanzania.

During a recent interview, Jux confirmed his wife’s religion switch but admitted that it was rather difficult to convince her and that he had help by way of counsel from religious leaders.

He explained that the religious leaders taught him how to handle the matter with delicacy and understanding.

Juma highlighted how all of these culminated in helping Priscilla come to understand Islam better, which then led to her conversion.

Speaking about Priscilla’s conversion to Islam, Juma said, “It was a little difficult convincing my wife to become a Muslim. On the other hand, I was receiving lessons from religious leaders, so there was a way that they were teaching me about how to convince her, and with time, she understood.”

The Nollywood actress and producer shared her decision to embrace Islam after her marriage, stating that it was centered on her individual relationship with God and the principles of love and humanity. She adopted the Muslim name Mutmaina.
