The Nigerian TikTok community in the space of 8 months, has lost two of its content creators and a content moderator.
Ladi Anzaki Olubunmi, a TikTok content moderator, and two popular TikTokers, Disturbing and Bigbutfit, left their fans and fellow creators in shock after receiving news of their death.
Ladi Anzaki Olubunmi
Ladi Anzaki Olubunmi, a Nigerian TikTok content moderator, was found dead in her Nairobi apartment on March 7, 2025. She worked for Teleperformance, a company contracted to moderate TikTok content, and had been living in Kenya since 2022. Colleagues alleged that she was denied leave to travel home despite having an annual return ticket benefit, which she hadn’t used since arriving in Kenya. Her death has raised concerns about the working conditions faced by content moderators, including low pay, long hours, and inadequate mental health support.

Disturbing
Disturbing, a vocal advocate for the “Justice for Mohbad” movement, died during a live stream on April 25, 2025. He appeared to suffer a seizure before collapsing and passing away. His wife revealed that he had a medical history of seizures and was undergoing treatment, dismissing rumors about spiritual attacks.
Bigbutfit
Bigbutfit, another popular TikToker, passed away on August 17, 2025, after a brief illness. Her family confirmed her death in a post on her official Facebook page, citing that funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course. There were unverified reports suggesting she may have died during a tummy tuck surgery or complications from a hernia operation.
