Veteran Nigerian actor Toyin Alausa has admonished burgeoning movie actors not only to focus on cramming scripts but also to develop technical skills that would help them through life.
Taking to her Instagram account, Alausa stated that acting requires the combination of professionalism and real-life emotions to bring a character into a movie.
“Acting is not just about memorising lines; it’s about surrendering yourself to the moment, training both your emotions and your skills until they become one. To make an audience feel, you must first allow yourself to feel deeply,” she wrote.

Alausa further stressed that emotional scenes, such as crying on screen, don’t just happen by chance but require vulnerability, discipline, and years of honing the craft.
“Every crying scene you see on screen takes discipline, vulnerability, and countless hours of perfecting the art. This is why we say acting is lived, not faked,” she added.
