The Fusengbuwa Ruling House has formally rejected Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (KWAM 1) from contesting for the Awujale throne, stating categorically that he is not a member of their lineage.

In a letter dated 11 December 2025 and signed by Chairman Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi, the family declared KWAM 1’s royal linkage form “null, void and of no consequence.” According to internal investigation, no evidence was found connecting the musician to either the Jadiara Royal House or the Fusengbuwa Ruling House as earlier claimed by the musician.

The family pointed out what they called glaring irregularities in the form as it was certified on 8 December by one Adetayo Abayomi Oduneye, described as the family unit head — who has no authority or recognition within the royal structure. Adding to the irregularities sighted on the form, it was endorsed two days before KWAM 1 himself signed it on 10 December, rendering it invalid.

Receiving two rejection in a day, the heads of the Jadiara and Bubiade family units publicly disowned the singer and his late father, Adisa Adesanya Anifowoshe, insisting neither had ever belonged to their branches.

With the revered stool vacant since Oba Sikiru Adetona’s passing in July 2025 after a 65-year reign, the succession battle remains intense, but KWAM 1 now appears to be excluded from the intense race.
