Nigerian fashion designer Veekee James has expressed deep gratitude after her baby registry was nearly cleared out in under 24 hours, following earlier online backlash.
In her recent social media update, she wrote: “In less than 24 hours, you guys almost cleared out the registry. A lot of you left notes and that’s just the cutest thing ever. We cannot wait to share this joy with other moms once we land Lagos.”

The couple, who tied the knot in February 2024 in a lavish ceremony announced their first pregnancy on February 3, 2026, via a heartfelt video showcasing Veekee’s baby bump and emotional moments together.

Veekee later opened her baby registry publicly, prompting mixed reactions. Critics questioned the move amid economic hardships, labeling it tone-deaf or unnecessary for a successful designer. Supporters countered defended her noting that it stemmed from fans and friends repeatedly asking how to contribute, with no obligation involved.
The swift generosity complete with personal notes, has turned the narrative positive. Veekee and husband Femi Atere however, plan to share some gifts with other expectant mothers upon arriving in Lagos.
