Popular Nigerian activist and social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), shared a rare emotional moment revealing that negative online comments for the first time, has brought tears to his eyes.

In a widely circulated video posted earlier today, VDM appeared visibly moved as he addressed the backlash he received following a viral meme. The image shows multiple apples with partial bite marks, how he jumps from one social issue or “case” to another without fully resolving them.

Reacting directly to the hurtful remarks under such posts, VDM captioned the clip: “For the first time I cried because of the comments about me. I try my best and this is all people say. I know you see me as strong, but these comments got to me.”

The approximately 8-minute video shows the usually tough and outspoken critic struggling with his emotions while addressing the public criticism. He said: “I saw people that hate VeryDarkBlackMan in the comment section laughing and mocking me. While i was reading the comments, i got so emotional, and even cried and why did i cry? When i was reading these comments, no body in the comment section section said i collected money from them to give attention to the cases. No body called me a thief.”

The moment has sparked widespread sympathy and discussion across X (formerly Twitter), with supporters highlighting his humanity and critics asking what case he has successfully handled to the end giving examples like the case of late Nigerian singer Mohbad.
